Baby FAQ’s
—
We realize some folks may be learning about the baby for the first time… SURPRISE!
We didn’t really plan on never posting about it, but when we realized we didn’t do any posts about it for months we figured we’d just keep it on the down-low.
Did you find out the gender?
We didn’t! So we referred to them as “Peanut” throughout the whole pregnancy.
If you didn’t know the gender, how did you decorate the nursery?
We re-painted the spare bedroom to be white and grey and the crib, dresser/changing table, and glider rocker are all natural wood.
How was the first trimester?
Pretty good! I was nauseous, but it didn't get too bad. I ran a virtual half marathon at 10 weeks, and was still able to keep up with the running, biking, and yoga.
How was the second trimester?
Definitely started to slow down a little bit more but was still able to stay as active as I could, even if it was just a 30 minute walk. The growing bump has made yoga a bit harder and prenatal yoga isn’t really my thing- too slow!
How was the third trimester?
The bump finally came in! By mid-late October I finally started to have a belly that looked like it had a baby in it vs. 4 burritos. Had to stop biking around the end of October (the belly was in the way!) and stopped running mid November due to lower back pain. Surprisingly the belly never really bothered me while running!
Other than lower back pain and heartburn I really had no complaints. Luckily both of those could be helped with Pepcid AC and a heating pad.
Have you two been trying for long?
Nope! We're very lucky. Stopped birth control at the end of January so it only took a few months before I was pregnant.
Are you planning on Breastfeeding?
I am! So far she has gained back some weight since leaving the hospital (she was up 5oz at her first Dr’s appointment when she was 4 days old! That’s a good sign that she’s getting enough calories so it looks like I’ll be able to continue.
How was the delivery?
I have nothing to compare it to, so I’d say it went smoothly? haha. I’m lucky to have had a low-risk pregnancy and a healthy baby so I would say overall it was uneventful. Contractions started, I ended up getting an epidural, and then I pushed and met my daughter!
